Well, we all have one don't we?!
This of course is in reference to Kate Nash's new venture on her Only Fans account selling pictures of her bum to generate income to fund her touring.
Sounds pretty desperate doesn't it? and if you don't like bums, a bit gross too. However it really does highlight that sex sells and even musicians in the past and present use their body to help promote their music. Why? Because it really is that hard to make any money out of music. The corporate machine certainly takes it all and it's exhausting musicians to create other than their art; to create any income to pay for the time; to create their art.
Sadly we've seen at Schtumm this year less bums (on seats) and even though we make it as easy as possible for the musicians to make a bit of money, with no audience to play to it also becomes a rather desolate affair.
For 2025 we're moving to a monthly Saturday night to encourage more audience to get out, let their hair down (as it's not a school night) and see something new.
We hope you can help us in 2025 to grow our audience as we do not want to be added to the growing list of grassroots music closures. We're very fortunate that The Queens Head supports live original music but without any punters to see it we're also affecting their business too.
