Kat&Co and Duotone are all our Schtummers for Friday 26th May.
With family traditions rooted in the cotton fields of rural Tennessee, lead singer Kathleen Pearson is the real deal.
But it is in the heart of London that she went looking for the Blues of the 21st Century.
Under the Kat&Co. flag this eclectic quintet shares stories and sounds of ordinary cosmopolitan life.
Kat&Co have produced what I would describe as ‘nightclub blues’… it is smoky, it is sassy and it is very classy. Blues Matters.
Duotone’s third album Let’s Get Low, written at home on his narrowboat, reveals a songwriter who is unafraid to explore real-life experiences that are often hidden from view. His debut album Work Harder & One Day You’ll Find Her (2009) and second LP Ropes (2011) both received rave reviews from Songlines ***** (5 stars), The Telegraph ****(4 stars).
uotone was also named as a ‘hidden gem’ in the Observer’s end of year poll.
With a new record in the pipeline, Duotone’s new project ‘A life Reappearing’, inspired by the work of artist Victoria Crowe is released this year.
‘Duotone has the uncanny ability to just pluck a groove from nowhere and take a song into an entirely new direction’ Brum Notes
‘One of Britain’s most innovative and intriguing bands’ R2 Magazine
