About the event
SONGDOG
‘Mirabilia Mundi’ is out Friday 28 March 2025 on Junkyard Songs and is the latest album from Songdog, Welsh songwriter Lyndon Morgans’s main project.
Over the course of the record’s ten songs Lyndon continues his exploration of favourite themes:
time passing and the struggle to make sense of a disappearing world; a foreboding of things
ending and a looking back at long-lost glory days. There are nods to the earliest Songdog albums woven throughout for those who know them. Lyndon is joined by fellow Songdog regular Karl ‘Pod’ Woodward, who provides piano and the distinctive Mellotron sound that peppers the album, plus new violinist Bethan Frieze. There’s a new producer, too, Al Steele
(also known as guitarist with The Korgis).
Previous albums include 2022’s ‘Of Gods And Men’ (which came out under Lyndon’s own name), ’A Happy Ending, ‘Joy Street’, 'Last Orders at Harry's Bar’, ‘A Life Eroding’, ‘A Wretched Sinner's Song’, ‘The Time Of Summer Lightning’, ‘Haiku’ and ‘The Way Of The World’ and were released to great reviews from the likes of Uncut, Mojo, The Mirror, Maverick,
RnR and Americana UK amongst others. Lyndon's tracks have featured on BBC Radio 2 and
BBC 6Music plus other regional and international shows, he recorded a session for Tom
Robinson's show and his music has been praised by Bruce Springsteen and Robert Wyatt.
What they’ve said about the music:
“Lo-fi and alluring, like a heady mix of Eels and Lambchop. A fully qualified peer of such droll, self- deprecating Americans as Kurt Wagner, Stephin Merritt and Mark Everett." UNCUT (Andrew Mueller)“Soaring, Mellotron-inflected arrangements enhance Morgans’ acutely observed lyrics.” MOJO (John Aizlewood)“Morgans’ songs are a musical version of Diane Arbus’ photographs. They create stark word snapshots and capture moments in a life of music, love, mistake, and regret. You only write these songs if you paid attention while living.” AMERICANA UK (Michael Macy)“If he were a Wainwright, he’d be Loudon III, not Rufus ....I’d give a body part to write poetry like this.” RnR (Andrew Darlington)“He has a brilliant way of investing despair and dysfunction with romance. Stellar stuff indeed.” FATEA (Mike Davies)"Bejewelled lyrics of wit, woe & wonder" MIRROR (Gavin Martin)"Terrific stuff!" Robert Wyatt“Intense & sensual collection of baroque, last chance lives...supremely evocative imagery that lesser poets can only aspire to” MAVERICK (Jeremy Searle)

Sue Harding
A Schtumm.... favourite with a brand new album coming in the Spring!
Recently reviewed in the Financial Times, Sue Harding is beginning to get noticed! This West Country-based singer, songwriter & guitar player's unique vocal-range & heartfelt delivery creates a hauntingly beautiful sound with a retro sensibility, referencing the song-writing of the 1960s & '70s.
Born in London but brought up in the Cotswolds, Sue doesn’t remember a time when she couldn't sing; falling in love with roots & folk music initially when studying English in Manchester. Later, when living in Wales & then Bath, Sue found sessions & folk clubs, learning traditional songs & developing her craft along the way.
"Flight" was Sue's first album of original songs, released in 2016. It was well received with stripped back arrangements & intimate vocals, influenced by a love of American folk music & the poets of the 1960s. Neville Farmer, Music Journalist said, "Wonderful! We felt as if we were hearing the spirit of Laura Nyro, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Woodie Guthrie and more all rolled into one."
"Darkling", Sue's second album, returns to gentle romanticism with a contemporary folk feel. It celebrates a renewed connection to the English landscape & late Victorian poetry, which inspires so much of it. “Hauntingly beautiful - A fine example of the new revival in English-style traditional folk music" - Julie Nash, Folk & Tumble
Sue’s third album, The World (working title) is due for release in Spring 2025
